Kija Kim - President

Kija Kim

Ms. Kija Kim is President and co-founder of HDM. A pioneer in the field of Geographic Information Systems, she was one of the first women to head a technology company. With an extensive background in strategic planning, business process analysis, marketing analysis, system integration planning and cost / benefit analyses, relating to GIS and information technology, Ms. Kim grew HDM from a two person service-based company to a successful product-based web service company. Her accomplishments have been recognized through numerous awards, including the GeoSpatial Information and Technology Association (GITA) Excellence in GIS Award, U.S. Small Business Administration Small Business Person of the Year for Massachusetts and U.S. Department of Transportation Women-Owned Business Enterprise Award. She was also named one of Enterprising Women's Top Ten Women in Technology, and was an Inc. Magazine's Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist. In addition to Ms. Kim's professional accomplishments, she is active in civic and community affairs and serves on a number of civic and professional boards. Ms. Kim graduated first in her class from Seoul National University and attended the Graduate School of Geography at Clark University in Worcester, MA. She also completed Executive Management Programs at Babson College in Wellesley, MA, and at The Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.




Jim Aylward - Executive Vice President

Jim Aylward

Mr. James A. Aylward is HDM's Executive Vice President and co-founder. He has over twenty-five years of professional experience in bringing high quality technology solutions to public and private organizations. Throughout his professional career, Mr. Aylward has successfully developed organizational plans for effective technology transfer. His experience includes strategic planning, business process analysis, system integration planning and cost/benefit analyses - all related to implementation of geographic information systems (GIS) and information technology. He has worked with senior executives in the implementation of business process reengineering, administrative / political realignment of organizations, and integration of multiple teams and technologies to create new units. Mr. Aylward is a recognized national leader in the advancement of Open GIS standards based technology and a visionary in the application of innovative technology tools. He has led the development of a number of GIS products that promote interoperability between and among geospatial data of all formats. Mr. Aylward holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Suffolk University (Boston) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science from Boston College.




Wei Du, Ph.D. - Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Engineering

Dr. Wei Du is an internationally recognized GIS System Architect and Application Developer. With outstanding programming skills and over twenty years experience in GIS technology, Dr. Du is an expert in system architecture, system planning, database design, and development of advanced GIS applications and complex enterprise-focused GIS systems. As the lead architect and engineer for the HDM web GIS development team, Dr. Du has developed and implemented a number of tools that allow businesses to quickly and easily visualize their data on maps. An expert in interoperability of geospatial database Open GIS standards and related database technologies technology, Dr. Du has also developed tools to maintain data quality and data standards. Dr. Du also served as the lead geospatial architect and manager of all geospatial databases on the DHS/FEMA National Emergency Management Portal (www.hazards.gov), a $150 million technology development effort led by IBM and HDM. In addition to his experience at HDM, Dr. Du was a Research Assistant at Clark University's Center for Technology. His research focused on hydrological engineering, computer modeling, water resources, and the development of analytical methods for assessing risk and uncertainty in local flood mitigation planning. Dr. Du holds a PhD in Geography, a MA in Hydrology & Environmental Sciences, and a BA, in Civil Engineering.




David Chadwick - SVP & General Manager

David Chadwick

David Chadwick comes to HDM with extensive experience leading the development of advanced internet and software technology solutions in the commercial and public sector. Before joining HDM, Mr. Chadwick was CEO of Priority Telecom, NV, Amsterdam, a $120M public European technology and telecommunications company, focused on B2B corporate voice & network data services. Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Officer for telecom startup Cignal Global Communications of Cambridge, MA, helping it to grow to $50M in annual revenues prior to its acquisition by UPC. As the Senior Manager of National Infrastructure Programs at Raytheon Corporation in Lexington, MA, Mr. Chadwick led Raytheon's business unit charged with identifying commercial opportunities for the deployment of dual-use technologies within developing countries. Mr. Chadwick retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1997 as Colonel and Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO). His major military assignments included command of the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity; and the Naval Information Systems Management Command within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Acquisition and Development. Mr. Chadwick holds a MS in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, MS in International Studies from the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
