HDM is developing a 'Best in Class' online mapping portal for FEMA's multi-hazard management. This web-based, national repository of multi-hazard data is designed to support federal and state agencies hazard mitigation efforts. This system organizes data related to hazard identification/delineation, risk assessment, and disaster related activities. It is one of the first web-based GIS systems in the world to incorporate true Open GIS Consortium (OGC) defined interoperability functionality. HDM's V-BIZ Visualization Acceleration Tools are used extensively throughout this site to enhance performance for the expected hundreds of thousands of daily users. Through custom developed 'connectors', it can integrate any format GIS or mapping data anywhere on the web in real time. It provides a mechanism for cataloging and searching specific areas of interest.
